Visiting EPE Faculty

Professor Boris Kapustin from the Russian Academy of Sciences and The Moscow School of Social and Economic Sciences (British-Russian University) will be jointly appointed with the Department of Political Science. 

Alexander Kirshner, Yale University.  Mr. Kirshner will teach two courses in the 2009-2010 academic year, Constitutionalism and Democracy and Democracy and the Politics of Opposition.

Professor Stephen Latham, will be jointly appointed in EPE, Political Science and Yale’s School of Management to teach “Bioethics, Politics and Economics” and “Bioethics and the Law” in Spring 2009.  This is the beginning of a multiple year appointment for Professor Latham, who had taught at EPE

Professor Nicoli Nattrass, University of Cape Town, Department of Economics will join us in the fall of 2009 to teach the Political Economy of AIDS and Science and Society.  She will be jointly appointed with the International Studies Program at the MacMillan Center.

Professor Giuseppe Sciortino, Associate Professor, Facolta di sociologia, Universita di Trento, will join us for the 2009-2010 academic year, jointly appointed with the Department of Sociology.  He will teach Sociology of Nationalism, Classic Texts in Social and Cultural Theory, Social Studies of Sexuality and Varieties of Cultural Analysis.

Professor Jeremy Seekings of the University of Cape Town Departments of Political Studies and Sociology.  Professor Seekings will teach Comparative Welfare Policy in Developing Countries and Race and class in Comparative Perspective.  She will be jointly appointed with the International Studies Program at the MacMillan Center.

Jonathan Schell is the author of thirteen books, including The Village of Ben Suc, The Fate of the Earth, The Unconquerable World: Power Nonviolence and the Will of the People, and, most recently, The Seventh Decade: The New Shape of Nuclear Danger From 1967 to 1987, he was a staff writer for The New Yorker. From 1990 to 1996, he was a columnist at New York Newsday. He has taught at Princeton, Emory, the New School, and Wesleyan University.  He has been a fellow at The Institute of Politics, and at the Shorenstein Center on the Press, Politics, and Public Policy, both at the Kennedy School. Currently, he is The Doris Schaffer Peace Fellow at the Nation Institute. 

Professor S. Prakash Sethi will join us to teach Ethics and American Business and Ethics and Business in Comparative Perspective.  Professor Sethi is currently a University Distinguised Professor, Zicklin School of Business, Baruch College, The City University of New York and will be with EPE for the fall 2009 semester.

Professor Shannon Stimson, Professor of Political Science at the University of California, Berkeley is the John K. Castle Visiting Professor at EPE for the 2009-2010 academic year.  Professor Stimson will teach Classics of Ethics, Politics and Economics, The Concept of a Constitution and Terrorism, Ethics and the Rule of Law.
