Studying at Yale
Students may select from courses in dozens of academic departments and most of the professional schools that are related to the environment. The Online Course Information provides access to information about those courses.
Degree programs are offered for students pursuing bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees.
- Undergraduate Programs
Undergraduates who major in Environmental Studies examine how physical and biological processes maintain life, and how humans affect nature, from a broad interdisciplinary perspective. Other opportunities for undergraduates include majoring in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, Environmental Engineering, Geology and Geophysics, as well as developing collaborative projects in Chemical Engineering and other departments.
- Master’s Degree Programs
The School of Forestry & Environmental Studies offers master’s degrees in four areas.
- Joint Degree Programs
Joint degree programs are offered by the School of Forestry & Environmental Studies along with the schools of Architecture, Management, Law and Divinity, the Graduate School and the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health in the School of Medicine.
- Doctoral (Ph.D.) Program
Environmentally focused doctoral programs are offered at Yale in several areas including the Department of Forestry & Environmental Studies (which is comprised of the faculty of the School of Forestry & Environmental Studies), Chemical Engineering, Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, Environmental Engineering, and Geology and Geophysics.
