Research Description

My research is a series of case studies looking at the energy and environmental implications of large-scale use of materials, mostly metals. The studies use a life-cycle systems approach to study primary energy use, greenhouse gas emissions, and emissions of metals and its potential toxicity. Research topics include global emissions of silver, production of selected nanomaterials, and the energy and mercury emissions trade-offs associated with lighting.
