Research Description
Many chemicals used in the food and personal care industries are known to enter
the wastewater system and persist in the environment well after their terms of
use. This research will evaluate the potential impacts of these contaminants
including the assessment of their concentrations in wastewater, surface waters,
and drinking water. Additionally, by-products of any treatment processes that
they would undergo will be identified and tested for toxicity to humans as well
as to the ecological environment.
