Dr. Rodrigues is a postdoctoral researcher in the Environmental Engineering Program of the Chemical Engineering Department at Yale University. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1999 and a Master of Science degree in 2002, both from the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. In 2007, Dr. Rodrigues completed her Ph.D. in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics at Michigan State University, advised by the university's distinguished professor James M. Tiedje. Dr. Rodrigues' doctoral research focused on ecology, physiology and metabolism of cold-adapted microorganisms from the Siberian permafrost. In Prof. Elimelech's lab, Dr. Rodrigues is investigating the influence of extracellular bacterial appendages in biofilm formation, as well as the effects of carbon nanotubes in biofilms.
