Baoxia Mi is a postdoctoral research associate in Professor Menachem Elimelech's group in the Chemical Engineering Department at Yale University. She received a Bachelor of Science degree with the highest honor in 1998 and a Master of Science degree in 2001, both in Environmental Engineering, from Tianjin University (Tianjin, China). In 2006, Dr. Mi completed her Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, advised by Professor Benito J. Mariñas.

Dr. Mi's doctoral research focused on (i) the characterization of physicochemical properties of reverse osmosis (RO)/nanofiltration (NF) membranes, using Rutherford backscattering spectrometry, and (ii) the role of partition and diffusion in the transport of arsenic (iii) through RO/NF membranes. At Yale, Dr. Mi is currently working on forward osmosis (FO) processes and organic/colloidal fouling behavior of FO membranes.
