INTERESTS: The English language from its beginnings to the present day, Old English and other Germanic literatures, later literature in English including the poetry of Ezra Pound. My preferred approach to the study of literature is philological in the broad sense; that is, precise study of the language of a text followed by critical analysis and aesthetic evaluation.
