The
facilities of the Center include a large common room (600
square feet) comfortably furnished, an adjoining seminar room
(300 square feet), twelve faculty offices equipped with computers
and telephones, and two carrels. Lockers will be available
for those without offices. Coffee, tea, and sherry will be
provided. Although there will be no food service, all Fellows
will have dining privileges at the Graduate Club next door
and are to pay the Graduate Club directly for food and beverages
by cash or check.
The faculty offices will be assigned by the Director after
consultation with the Center’s Advisory Board. Assignment
of offices will be based on need and participation in the
activities of the Center, principally those having to do with
teaching. It is anticipated that these offices will be held
initially for a term of two years, with the possibility of
renewal, and then rotated to other emeriti. Offices are being
provided for the primary purposes of teaching for the Center,
conducting personal research and writing.
The Center normally will be open Monday through
Friday from 10:00 A.M. to 5:00
P.M. throughout the academic year, and at other times
for special functions. It will be closed on University holidays
and recess days, and during July and August. The Fellows of
the Center will have access to their offices at all times.
The Director and Members of the Board will
welcome any comments or suggestions as to the organization
and functioning of the Center.
