Visa Information for International Applicants

If you are not a US citizen or a US permanent resident, you will need to obtain F-1 student status to study in this full-time program. Yale’s Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) will issue the I-20 form once we have received your application form and all necessary fees. as well as original proof that you have enough money to pay for your tuition, fees and living expenses. For proof that you have sufficient financial resources to meet the tuition and living expenses of the program, please submit a bank statement, an original letter from your or your family's bank, or a scholarship letter from the organization that will pay your expenses. You will need two original versions of the letter, one for the application and one to present to the embassy when you apply for a visa. APPLY EARLY ENOUGH TO COMPLETE THIS NECESSARY STEP.

Payment of the $200 SEVIS fee is required for your student visa application. Yale University will pay this fee at the time the I-20 is issued and will add the cost of this fee to your tuition bill. Along with your I-20 form, Yale will send you a copy of the SEVIS Fee receipt. You must take both of these documents to the U.S. Embassy when you apply for your visa.

More information on visa policies can be found on line at www.oiss.yale.edu.
