Waste Management

Many different types of waste are generated on campus. Some of this waste is considered hazardous due to its potential to harm people or the environment. Hazardous waste includes chemical, radiological and biomedical waste. The Environmental Affairs Section is responsible for managing the disposal of all hazardous and otherwise regulated waste on campus. Generators of these wastes are responsible for the proper collection, handling, labeling and storage of these wastes in their work areas. Laboratory employees can learn more about how to handle the different waste streams by clicking [here].

The full list of Yale waste management policies and programs can be found [here]. Yale EHS has written procedures that address most waste issues. If you have any questions regarding the handling or disposal of a hazardous or regulated waste please call 432-6545 for assistance.
