Shipping Infectious Substances - Category A Definition: Infectious Substances are defined as cultures or stocks of Human or Animal Pathogens.
This is a mandatory course designed to fulfill performance-specific training requirements for employees who
do any of the following: package, label, ship, prepare shipping documents, offer packages of hazardous materials
to carriers for shipment, transport and/or receive infectious substances.
This course reviews the
shipping regulations from the Department of Transportation (DOT) and the International Air Transport Association
(IATA). Permits, shipping declaration forms, labels, and emergency response procedures are among the items that
will be addressed. This training will also fulfill the requirements for shipping materials classified as Biological
Substance, Category B - Exempt Human and Animal Specimens, Dry Ice, and the General Awareness Training.
