Shipping Research Materials
Many research materials are considered hazardous materials or dangerous goods when transported via air or roadways and there are regulatory requirements to be met before these materials may be shipped.
- Training: Anyone involved in the shipment of research materials (packaging, labeling, preparing shipping documentation, etc.) must be trained. Training is available for anyone involved in shipping biological materials or dry ice, but the EHS Shipping Team will prepare chemical and radioactive materials for shipping.
- Research Materials Shipment Request: must be completed and forwarded to EHS for review prior to shipping any research materials. The Request will be reviewed for compliance with transportation rules as well as Export Regulations. You will be notified if you may ship the material or the EHS Shipping Team will ship the material as well as if an export license is required.
