All research experiments involving animals must be registered and approved by the Yale Animal Care and Use Committee (YACUC). Contact 785-5992 for additional information.

Animal research that involves a hazard (biological, radiological, chemical) must also be approved by the Yale Animal Resources Center (YARC) and EHS before initiation. Contact YARC Compliance and Regulatory Affairs (785-2526) for additional information. Once approved, researchers must meet with YARC personnel and relevant safety personnel to outline standard operating procedures. An orientation to the assigned animal housing area will also be provided. Work with human pathogens or rDNA in animals (including transgenic animals) must be approved prior to initiation. Contact EHS to initiate this approval process.
