Biological Waste Disposal

EHS follows federal, state and local requirements for the disposal of hazardous waste, including all wastes designated as biomedical or infectious by the State of Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection. Environmental Affairs of EHS manages the collection of biological waste on both sides of the campus.

Although the designation of infectious wastes remains the same, based on your campus location (Medical School or Science Hill Campus), disposal of non-infectious laboratory waste in your area may vary. If you are unsure of the designation of your location, please contact Environmental Affairs at 785-3550.

Waste disposal Guidelines for the Medical School Area are outlined in the "Laboratory Biomedical Waste Orientation."

Waste disposal guideline for the Science Hill Campus area are outlined in the "Science Hill Biomedical Waste Guidelines".
