In the Alonzo lab, we study the evolution of reproductive traits using mathematical models and empirical studies of fishes.
Topics include: sexual selection, parental care, alternative reproductive behaviors,
female mate choice, sexual conflict, sperm competition and mating systems
A behavioral and evolutionary ecologist by training, my research focuses more generally on the evolution and ecology of reproductive traits. I conduct fieldwork in Corsica (on the ocellated wrasse) and in Connecticut (on a freshwater stream fish, the tessellated darter) and use phenotypic and genetic modeling approaches to examine how interactions within and between the sexes affect the evolution and expression of reproductive behaviors.
