The Digital Media Center for the Arts at Yale is a multimedia facility created to establish connections between traditional art and the computer age. During the academic year we are generally open Mondays through Fridays, 9am-10pm, and Sundays, 12n-10pm. The DMCA is not open for general use in the Summer. For information email Laraine Sammler. ACCESSAccess to the DMCA is available only to faculty, staff, and students of Yale's Arts Departments and Institutions. Individuals who meet the criteria may apply for DMCA access on line or by using access forms available in our lobby. Accessed users will receive card key access to our general labs and be permitted to borrow DMCA equipment. Those wishing to use our advanced labs and equipment must also submit a special project application.
CONTESTThe DMCA wants to thank everyone who participated in this years Yale Innovation in Digital Environments Awards Contest! We received a fantastic range of exciting projects and the competition was really tough. After evaluating all of the entries for the Arts category, the judges have determined the finalists. The selected winner will receive an LCD ultra-portable projector and be eligible for the contests grand prize, chosen from all of the IDEA contest category winners. Ely Kim for his project - Seen The DMCA prize this year is dedicated to the memory of Dan Abrams, who died tragically on November 3rd, 2008. Dan was involved in many creative activities, from his first discipline of computer science, through digital video and computer graphics to computer-mediated artwork of many forms. As a student computing assistant at the DMCA he assisted and instructed innumerable students in the use of new technology. Winners in the individual categories, as well as grand prize winners will be announced at the IDEA contest awards ceremony on April 22nd.
