Global outreach

To  enable students to engage theology from a global perspective, Yale Divinity School currently  offers exchange programs with institutions in England, Germany, Hong Kong, and  Singapore.  In addition, YDS sponsors student travel seminars to countries around the globe. These travel seminars present students with direct  encounters with the realities of religion on the world stage.

Library

The Yale Divinity Library contains some 500,000 volumes, 250,000 microfilms, and 3,700 linear feet of manuscript and archival material.  The primary strengths of the library are in the history of missions, Christian doctrine, biblical literature, and church history.  Students also have access to 200,000 volumes in the religion collections of other libraries at the University, which are housed in 22 buildings around the campus. >YDS Library Site

Research, Lectures and Conferences

A number of dynamic initiatives at YDS engage in research and outreach activities that bring the work of YDS beyond the halls of academia, such as the renowned Yale Center for Faith & Culture.  And hardly a week goes by without a stimulating lecture or conference, frequently featuring well-known figures from the world of contemporary religion.  In recent years conferences have brought people from around the globe to focus on topics such as Christian-Muslim relations, faith and the environment, Black religion in the African diaspora, immigration, congregational life in the 21st century, and faith and citizenship.

Religion, Music, and the Arts

The Yale Institute of Sacred Music partners with YDS and the Yale School of Music to provide a curriculum that integrates the study and practice of religion with that of music and the arts.  In conjunction with YDS, the Institute offers programs in liturgical studies and religion and the arts.
