This is an exciting and challenging possibility for someone who is interested in campus ministry. Although this position works closely with a segment of the population (women students) there is encouragement to work with other student organizations to plan and coordinate events. Women students make up about 50% of the student population. The women are of a variety ages, races, cultures and background. The Women’s Center does have its own space and a small library.

Attend the New England School of Religious Education every summer for one week and take courses on a variety of subjects, i.e. Bible, spirituality and personal growth.

Relevant positions and dates of service
Have held and do hold a variety of positions at the local, association and state level of the United Church of Christ. Currently member-at-large on Church Council, Chair of the Nominating Committee for the New Haven Association and member of the Personnel Committee for the Conference.
Have also been the Coordinator of Women’s Concerns Committee for the Connecticut Conference of the United Church of Christ. In this capacity I have helped to plan statewide events for the Ecumenical Decade of Churches in Solidarity with Women. Am currently on the Worship Planning Committee for the New England Celebration of UCC Women coming up in March. I am a member of the Teaching Site Committee for Deborah Blood, a student from Andover Newton who is doing her internship through the Connecticut Conference of the United Church of Christ.

Have worked with a number of work-study students in the Registrar’s Office.
Over the years have filled in for Letty Russell as the supervisor of the Women’s Center Coordinator when she is on sabbatical. This year is the first year I have supervised a student for the full year.
Description of the Intern’s Responsibilities
Please be as specific as you can about your expectations. If you plan to arrange
responsibilities according to your intern’s interests, please list at
least some of the possibilities available. A final, mutually agreed-upon set
of responsibilities will be included in the Learning Agreement.
The Women’s Center Coordinator listens to needs of the YDS Community, especially the women, to help create an atmosphere that is educationally, spiritually and socially accessible.
To support these endeavors the following responsibilities are expected keeping in mind the flexibility of response to needs.
Administration: Maintain Women’s Center Library, finances and scheduling
use of the Women’s Center, provide publicity for Women’s Center
events through email and fliers, etc. Oversee the editor(s) of the Voice.
Programming: Coordinate social, educational and supportive programs and groups;
recruit women from YDS to assist in such endeavors. To provide a link with the
Women’s Center at Yale.
Pastoral Work: Be available on campus during YDS events and be available to women during lunch hour (women’s table in the Refectory at least once a week) and schedule time for individual discussion of issues facing women here at the Divinity School or in their career endeavors. Coordinate house churches, a couple of Chapel services during the year, possibly a retreat.
Meetings: Supervisory meeting once a week, attend Student Council meetings.
