Berkeley Divinity School hosts communications symposium
On June 7 and 8, Berkeley Divinity School hosted "Getting the WORD Out," an intensive symposium for alumni clergy, lay leaders and communication administrators. Ian Douglas, bishop of the Diocese of Connecticut, discussed considerations for communicating through the media from parish, diocesan and national church perspectives. Nicholas Knisely, dean of Trinity Cathedral in Phoenix and keynote speaker for the event, shared how he has helped the national church find ways to take advantage of the internet and other "new" media to spread the Gospel. Symposium preacher Kate Moorehead, dean of St. John's Cathedral in Jacksonville, FL, brought insights from a church community in the process of adapting to and utilizing web technologies for community-building and outreach. More than 50 attended this second annual conference for BDS alumni.
