Survey seeks updated information, opinions from alumni

In an effort to enhance communications with graduates, YDS alumni are being encouraged to complete a survey that, in addition to requesting updated contact and career information, asks questions in areas such as communications, programs for alumni, and shared identity groups.  The survey is being mailed out in hard copy along with Dean Harold Attridge’s fall letter to alumni, but it can also be completed online.

“Your participation in the survey will help the school do a better job of understanding, communicating with, and planning programs for its grads,” wrote Attridge.  “Because our communications are moving in the direction of electronic media, I encourage you to complete the survey online.”  Submitting the survey electronically will also make it easier to tabulate results.  The survey can be accessed through the YDS web site by clicking here. 

Completed surveys must be sent no later than Monday, Nov. 16 in order to be included in the results.

Among the areas of exploration:

  • The usefulness of various YDS publications, including email communications, printed materials sent through U.S. mail, postings on the YDS web site.
  • Preferred methods of receiving notifications or magazines from YDS—print or electronic?
  • Participation in various alumni programs, such as Convocation and Reunions, Summer Term courses, and on-campus lectures.
  • Primary reasons for attending alumni programs.
  • Factors that may have prevented participation in alumni programs.
  • Interest in shared identity alumni programming for various groups, e.g., African American, Asian American, Latino, gay/lesbian.
  • Suggestions for improvements to alumni programs.
