Carmen Germino ’07 M.Div. appointed interim director of alumni relations
Carmen Germino '07 M.Div. has been appointed interim director of alumni relations at Yale Divinity School, succeeding Elizabeth Strawn '04 M.A.R., who left earlier this year to take another position at Yale University.
Germino, who was active as a student in social justice issues, said, "The alumni/ae of Yale Divinity School are talented, passionate, and generous. I feel blessed to have the opportunity to work with such an inspiring and faithful population.
"As a student, it was clear to me how much YDS alumni/ae care about the present and future of the school. Now, in this new position and as a recent alumna, I look forward to having conversations with alumni/ae throughout the year in which we share both our memories of, and visions for, this special place." The interim appointment is for a period of one year.
As director of alumni relations, Germino will work closely with YDS graduates generally, and with the Alumni Board in particular, on a broad range of issues dealing with the ongoing relationship of YDS to its graduates.
John Lindner, director of external relations, said, "I worked closely with Carmen when she was a student, and I am extremely pleased that she is here to help us through our time of transition as we conduct a national search for a permanent director of alumni relations. Carmen knows YDS intimately, and her people skills make her an especially valuable member of our team." Lindner has oversight of alumni relations, communications, publications and development.
"I am always in conversation with myself, my community, and God about my vocation and the shape my ministry might take, and this experience will undoubtedly be helpful on my own journey of discernment," said Germino.
An active member of the Episcopal Church of St. Paul and St. James in New Haven's Wooster Square, Germino earned a B.A. in political science from The University of the South in Sewanee, TN. Most recently, she was project coordinator of the Initiative on Religion and Politics at Yale. While at the Divinity School, she served as a student assistant in Alumni Relations and was coordinator of the Community Life Committee and the Yale Committee for Social Justice.
