Interfaith Solidarity on Global Climate Change scheduled for April 27

The Second Annual Interfaith Solidarity on Global Climate Change event will take place on Sunday, April 27, 12:30-3:00 p.m. at Sterling Divinity Quadrangle, 409 Prospect St., New Haven, CT.

The event is jointly organized and sponsored by students at Yale Divinity School and the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.  The purpose is to build bridges of religious environmentalism between Yale and the faith communities in the wider Hew Haven area by facilitating a festive venue for celebration, education, networking, and public meditation.

The 2007 event was extremely successful, with over 250 persons in attendance, and an even larger turnout is expected this year.   Like last year, there will be live music, free food from Claire's Corner Copia, tree planting, workshops, information sessions, children's activities, and a centering meditation on the role of faith in the environmental crisis.  There will activities for children and water bowls for dogs.

Lunch will be served 12:30-1:30 p.m.  Interfaith Meditation is scheduled for 1:30-2:00 p.m. and, the workshops, 2:00-3:00 p.m.  Among the confirmed workshops are “Sustainable Community Outreach” and "Inconvenient Ethics: Using Al Gore in a Faith Context?”
