BDS Senior Class Goes on Pilgrimage to Canterbury
The Berkeley Divinity School senior class went on a pilgrimage to Canterbury Cathedral during the February 2007 reading period. While in residence at Canterbury's International Study Centre, students were immersed in the worship life of the cathedral and toured sites significant to the history of Anglicanism. A trip to London also included a visit to Lambeth Palace, home of the Archbishop of Canterbury.
Dean Joseph Britton explained, "Our purpose in taking the students to the symbolic center of the Anglican Communion is to give them both an appreciation of the historical depth of the Anglican tradition, and its current global breadth." Based on reports of the trip from the student pilgrims, said Britton, "Those goals were met and even exceeded!"
