Professor Hoffer's main areas of interest are Biblical Hebrew and the literary structures of the biblical text. Her textbook, Biblical Hebrew: A Text and Workbook, along with its companion volume, Supplement to Biblical Hebrew and Three Audio CDs pay special attention to narratives of the Bible and the musicality of the text. Professor Hoffer has lectured and published on a wide range of topics both biblical and post-biblical, and has also done significant research in the area of Jewish and Christian interpretive traditions from intra-biblical interpretation to present-day readings and usages of the text. Her present area of research is in the poetry of the Writings. Professor Hoffer is a Torah reader at Congregation Or Shalom in Orange, CT, and a frequent speaker at educational community events.
