Poston, Timothy '93 M.A.R.
Pastor Timothy L. Poston is the only child of Dr. and Mrs. Thomas H. Poston, and he was raised in Garner and Raleigh , North Carolina . He graduated from Davidson College with a B.A. in Religion, followed by an M.A.R. in Historical Theology from Yale University Divinity School , and an M.Div. from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia . He did one year of internship at Genesis Lutheran Church in Detroit , MI , before he was called to pastor Mediator Lutheran Church in Philadelphia , PA , on September 14, 1997 .
Since Mediator was previously designated a "Redevelopment" congregation, Pastor Poston served as "Pastor/Redeveloper" for the first five years of his ministry. Mediator was recently awarded the Southeastern PA Synod's inaugural Stewardship Award, and Pastor Poston has authored two articles on Mediator's "Redevelopment" ministry in "Net Results" and "Parish Practice Notebook."
Pastor Poston is a former member of his Synod's Council and a delegate to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America 's Church-Wide Assembly. He currently serves as Dean of the Central Philadelphia Conference, which includes 14 congregations in the heart of hiladelphia.
He serves on the Yale Divinity School Alumnal Board and on the U.T.I. Board ("Urban Theological Institute") of the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia . He also serves on the U.T.I. "Envisioning Task Force;" the "Urban/Suburban Partners" ecumenical group of the Metropolitan Christian Council of Philadelphia ; and the "Young Male Mentoring Program" Advisory Council for Berean Baptist Church in North Philadelphia .
He is the second longest serving pastor in Mediator's 100 years of ministry and the third longest serving pastor in the Central Philadelphia Conference (in one location).
Pastor Poston has one son, Grant Thomas Poston.
