Brooks, Fred R., Jr. '61 M.Div.

A member of the Oregon-Idaho Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, the Reverend Fred R. Brooks, Jr. has served under appointment for more than forty years, including parishes in Oneonta, New York and Eugene, Oregon. He is currently pastor of First United Methodist Church of Forest Home, Ithaca, New York. His ministry includes thirty years of service as an administrator in higher education at the University of Chicago, Vassar College, State University of New York at Binghamton, and Marywood University.

In his early years, Reverend Brooks lived in Sharon, Connecticut and Cooperstown, New York. He earned his A.B. degree at Hamilton College, Clinton, New York. He graduated from Yale Divinity School in 1961.

His interests range from comparative theology and Christian ethics, to geology, biblical archaeology, early American political thought and history, and modern politics. Reverend Brooks has served on numerous committees and boards in the church, in the area of education, and in the community. As a non-candidate, he is very active in local politics.

Reverend Brooks and his wife Alice reside in Vestal, New York. They have two sons, Martin and Thomas. Thomas and his wife Erica Bodenman Brooks are the parents of Elizabeth Louise, now four years old.
