George Ball ’41 B.D., now age 93, married YDS student Nancy Cronon ’51 Div. who became a public school teacher. He was a Chaplain in the US Army, 1942-45 ETO and received a Ph.D. from Yale University. From 1950 -55 Ball was a teacher of religion at Hamline University (St. Paul, MN), and professor of religion at Whitman College from 1960-95. George and Nancy have four children: two of them are college teachers in Wisconsin, one teaches Russian history, the other Classical Art History, one is a doctor and one is a lawyer. They have six grandchildren and are now retired and living in Walla Walla, WA, 217 Fulton Street, 99362. |
After 33 years of happy retirement in Black Mountain, NC – 12 of them in the Highland Farms Retirement Community, at the urging of their two daughters who live in Eugene, OR, Mary and Ed Torrecne ’41 B.D., ’50 S.T.M have decided to join them, thus reuniting most of their immediate family. They regret leaving beautiful Western North Carolina and a host of good friends, but the opportunity to join their family is irresistible. It’s not easy to make such a major move at their current ages – 97 and 87! |
