Tim Hiller ’07 M.A.R. and Elizabeth Lerohl ’06 M.Div. were married in July 2007. This year Tim worked as the Community Engagement Coordinator at Augustana College’s Center for Vocational Reflection and taught New Testament at St. Ambrose University’s ACCEL program. He will begin doctoral work in theology at the University of Chicago this fall.

After graduation Erika Hirsch ’07 M.Div. served as Deacon at Faith United Methodist Church in North Haven, CT, while also working full-time at the Overseas Ministries Study Center in New Haven. In September she will begin a Ph.D. program in History of Christianity at Boston University. She will be focusing on early Methodist hymnody with Karen Westfield Tucker as her advisor.

Emily Kuhn ’07 M.Div. completed her “Lutheran year” at the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia. She is currently on a year-long internship at Salem Lutheran Church in Toledo, OH.

Micah Luce ’07 M.A.R. completed his S.T.M. at Yale in 2008. He writes: “Three years of the quad wasn’t enough for me. Having completed my M.A.R. and S.T.M. in the last couple years, I’ve decided to pursue an MSBS degree (Manager of the Student Book Supply) at YDS. I’ll be staying in New Haven, working with the world’s greatest students, staff, and faculty, and continuing to throw the baseball on the quad from time to time (though not as often, Dean Attridge, so don’t worry).  I look forward to seeing many of you at convocation this fall—please come by the bookstore and say hello!”

Joey Murphy ’07 M.Div. is the Director of Campus Ministry at Barat Academy, a private Catholic school in St. Charles, MO. He teaches Freshman Theology and coordinates the service-learning program.

Andrew Nurkin ’07 M.Div. currently works at Princeton University’s Pace Center, where he coordinates civic engagement initiatives.

Rachel Pollak ’07 M.A.R. is in her second year at the M.F.A. program at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She writes: “I’m very happy in art school, and I love living in Chicago!”

Following graduation, John Quant ’07 M.A.R. andquant his wife moved to Nagano, Japan, where they worked as English teachers in several high schools. He writes: “We have both learned a lot and have enjoyed the experience as teachers as well as the many challenges and opportunities of living in a different culture. We both were involved in the kids’ club at our small church in the town of Miyota, and I had the honor of preaching there on several Sundays.” In June, their first child, Joelle Hope, was born in Japan, and in August the family will return to the US and move to Atlanta where John will begin a Ph.D. at Emory University in Hebrew Bible. It has been a wonderful and exciting year for them, and they are looking forward to the future. Greetings and blessings to you all.

Since that time she has been serving at The Church of the Intercession in the Sugar Hill neighborhood of Harlem, where she regularly celebrates and preaches in both English and Spanish. She writes: “During the year since graduation, I have had the honor of serving at the wedding of Jenny Gregg ’07 M.Div. and Derek Bodenstab, and of preaching at the wedding of Veronica Carlsen ’07 M.Div. and Peter Tierney III. I recently reunited with Veronica Tierney, Marc Eames, Gary and Linda Loyd, Paul and Ruthie McLain, and Jon and Margaret Chalmers at the Ordination to the Priesthood of William R. Bell in Panama City, Florida, where I was also privileged to preach.
