Welcome, Prospective Student!
Thank you for visiting the newly updated Yale Divinity School website. We hope that you will be able to find all the information about our school for which you are looking. If you need to contact us directly, please click on the “contact us” link above.
Yale Divinity School (YDS) is one of the eleven professional schools of Yale University, and offers graduate-level, ecumenical theological education. As part of the larger academic institution of Yale University, YDS is able to offer a unique opportunity for serious academic inquiry together with solid ministerial formation. YDS is a community of faith engaged in the pursuit of academic excellence, and we embody the strengths of both a graduate program in religious studies and a seminary.
Our student body is composed of women and men from all over the United States and from Europe, Africa, and Asia. A wide range of Christian denominations are represented, as well as several non-Christian traditions. Some students are recent college graduates, while others are exploring a second career option. After graduation, many students go on to become pastors, teachers, or chaplains, or to explore careers in law, medicine, ethics, and a variety of other fields.
Students at YDS have access to the resources of the entire university. Cross-enrollment in courses offered by other departments is also an option. All of Yale's libraries, research collections, special events and lectures are open to YDS students.
YDS works in partnership with Berkeley Divinity School (BDS) and the Institute of Sacred Music (ISM). BDS is an Episcopal seminary that offers a course of study in Anglican history and theology. The ISM is an interdisciplinary center, affiliated also with the Yale School of Music, which offers study in music, worship, and the arts.
Again, thank you for visiting our website. You are welcome to come for a campus visit or call our office to learn more information about YDS.
Sincerely,
Anna T. Ramirez
Associate Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid
