Housed in the historic Sterling Divinity Quadrangle, the vibrant Yale Divinity School community, along with our partners in learning Berkeley Divinity School and the Institute of Sacred Music, grows in thought and spirit in classrooms and casual spaces. Our students worship in Marquand Chapel, eat in the refectory, and gather for fellowship in the Common Room. Students develop new ideas and create new traditions that build upon the life and work of the generations of teachers and graduates that have preceded them.
While formal interviews are not required, prospective students are strongly encouraged to visit Yale Divinity School.
Tours and informal information sessions are offered Monday through Thursday while classes are in session.* A typical visit begins at 9:30 a.m. and the itinerary includes:
There are two ways to schedule a tour of campus:
If you are scheduling a visit at least 3 days in advance you are welcome to use our online scheduler. Remember, if you have questions please do not hesitate to call our office at 203-432-5360. (Fall tour dates have been added to the online scheduler!) Please let our office know if you wish to speak with someone from Berkeley Divinity School or the Institute of Sacred Music so appropriate arrangements can be made.
***Please note*** Classes will not be in session the weeks of October 12 and November 23. Fall semster classes end on December 8, 2009.
* Visitors are welcome on Fridays and on days when classes are not in session, but please be advised the visit schedule will be modified. Friday visitors should note few classes are offered that day, but a visit will still include chapel and coffee hour, as well as a tour, information session, and lunch. Visitors are also welcome during the summer and on days or weeks when classes are not in session; the visit will consist of an information session and a tour of our campus.
Fall Open House for Prospective Students
November 2010
Each year the Admissions Office hosts a Fall Open House in November. The event includes faculty and student panels, admissions and financial aid presentations, information on the degree programs, visits to class, an opportunity to attend chapel and share fellowship with our community, and a closing reception.
April 2010
Admitted Student Day is held each April and it is an opportunity to bring together all newly admitted applicants. The day provides a more indepth overview of Yale Divinity School and allows our admitted students to learn more about the wonderful opportunities available to them should they decided to enroll.

About Yale University and New Haven
New Haven, a sophisticated, affordable city of 120,000, is in the midst of a dramatic renaissance that is drawing record numbers of visitors, improving neighborhoods, and witnessing new businesses and restaurants. Yale, a large working port, and several corporate headquarters give New Haven the feel of a bustling city. But, at the same time, there's the ambience of a New England village that comes across in a town green, leafy streets and rampant boosterism that includes abundantly documented claims that New Havenites invented the hamburger and introduced pizza to the New World.
For more information about the city of New Haven and its relationship with Yale University please visit the Office of New Haven and State Affairs' Living in New Haven web site.
