Route 15 (Wilbur Cross/Merritt Parkways)

From north: Take Exit 61. Drive south on Whitney Avenue for approximately five miles. Shortly after the intersection with Sachem Street, the road will split. Stay to the right; you are now on Temple Street. Take a right on Grove Street, and the next left onto College Street. The second cross street is Elm Street; turn left. The Visitor Information Center (149 Elm St.) is on the left hand side of the street near the end of the block.

From south: Take Exit 57. Drive east on Route 34 (Derby Avenue) for five miles to the fork of Derby Avenue and George Street (three blocks past the Yale Athletic Fields). Bear right on George Street. Continue on George Street to York Street. Turn left on York Street and then the third right on Elm Street. Continue on Elm for approximately two and a half blocks, the Visitor Information Center (149 Elm St.) is on the left hand side of the street just before the third light.

Interstate 95

From north: Turn off turnpike at I-91 North Exit (Hartford, Springfield Exit) and continue for a short distance on I-91 to Trumbull Street Exit 3. Follow I-91 directions below.

From south: Take Exit 49, I-91 North (Hartford, Springfield). Follow I-91 directions below.

Interstate 91

From north and south: Take Exit 3 (Trumbull Street Exit). Stay in the middle lane and continue straight through the traffic light onto Trumbull Street. At the fourth light turn left on Prospect Street. At the traffic light Prospect becomes College Street. Continue on College to the next light which is Elm Street. Turn left onto Elm. The Visitor Information Center (149 Elm St.) is on the left hand side of the street near the end of the block.


On street metered parking is available in front of the Visitor Center and around campus. City parking lots are located at the corner of Crown and College streets, on Broadway opposite the Yale Co-op, and on Temple Street between Chapel and George streets.

Visitors Coming by Train

On weekdays there is hourly Metro-North service to New Haven from Grand Central Station in New York. For weekend schedule and further information, call 800 638-7646. Amtrak service is scheduled daily from Boston or Washington, D.C. via Penn Station in New York. Call 800-USA-RAIL (or check the Amtrak Web site). Local taxi service is available from the railroad station.

Visitors Coming by Plane

Tweed-New Haven Airport, from which taxi, bus, and car rental service are available, is four miles from campus. It is served by three express airlines: Continental, United, and USAirways. There is frequent limousine service to New Haven from other airports. Connecticut Limousine (located at the Long Wharf Terminal, I-95 Exit 46 in New Haven, 800 320-7298) serves Kennedy International Airport (New York--eighty miles to campus), LaGuardia International Airport (New York--seventy-two miles to campus), and Newark International Airport (Newark, New Jersey--ninety-two miles to campus). Service to Bradley International Airport (Windsor Locks, Connecticut--fifty-three miles to campus and near Hartford) is provided by Fitzgerald Airport Express (800 468-7287, #2), by Prime Time Shuttle of Connecticut (800 RED-VANS), and by Connecticut Limousine.
