"Coming of Age in the Islamic Republic: What Do Iran's Young Voter's Want?"

Djavad Salehi-Isfahani

Professor of Economics, Virginia Tech

Research Fellow, Harvard Kennedy School

Dr. Salehi-Isfahani was educated at the University of London (BSc Econ, ‘71) and Harvard University (PhD Econ ‘77).  He is currently Professor of Economics at Virginia Tech and Research Fellow at Harvard Kennedy School (2009-2010).  He was Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Pennsylvania (1977-84), visiting faculty at the University of Oxford (1991-92), and Visiting Fellow at the Brookings Institution (2007-08).  He has served on the boards of the Middle East Economic Association and the Economic Research Forum, where he has been Research Fellow since 1993.  His research has been in demographic economics, energy economics, and the economics of the Middle East.  He has co-authored one book, edited two volumes, and his articles have appeared in Economic Journal, Journal of Development Economics, Economic Development and Cultural Change, Journal of Economic Inequality, International Journal of Middle East Studies, Iranian Studies, and Middle East Development Journal, among others.
