Tufts and BU/NE ITT (Tufts Results / BU/NE ITT  results)

Tufts Criterium (March 23rd)

A technical 6-corner course, the day began with Casey (2nd) mixing it up in the Pro/1/2/3 USCF race. We actually thought we had missed the collegiate races, but no, Casey was simply "warming it up," if we can even call it that. Riding with top USCF racers before tackling the collegiate men's A-race? We'll leave you on that thought. Starting the collegiate portion of the day: the Men's C squad of Brian (4th), Roy (9th), and Dan C (17th). Brian finished super strong and broke that string of 12th-place finishes. Roy raced solid and his top ten finish in this demanding course shows never believe him whenever he says "I'm out of shape."

In the women's B race, Yale had three racers: Catherine (1st) and our two newcomers fresh off the Yale hockey team, Tara and Nicolette. For Catherine, she too mentioned that she was out of "biking shape," but alas, another understatement as she simply zipped away from the field. Tara (in sneakers!) and Nicolette (first time in the clipless mode) rode suspect and borrowed bikes, but got their first experience ever in a bike race. We look forward to seeing them out at our many future races.

Men's B team of Ryan B (2nd), Cam, and Chris McPhee next took the stage. Ryan showed off his power and skills and took off in a two-man break. He held off the chasing pack with gusto and had the Yale crowd cheering on each lap. McPhee was there too, but the furious racing on this very very technical course suited him not. No fear. He'll just save his afterburner for later. Cam helped break the field apart, set things up for Yale off the front, and readied his burner for the next day's ITT.

The women's A team of Marissa (3rd) and Reilly (14th) raced well throughout the course. Marissa was blocked in the main pack as the #1 and 2 finishers flew off the front, but raced hard to maintain her position. Reilly was a force, pounding it up the hill and scoring points for Yale. Heck yeah that's our A team.

The men's A squad of Casey (3rd), Rob (16th), Ed (24th), and Pete took the final stage appearance and mixed it up throughout their race. Casey took top honors again, and over the day amassed quite the mileage on this 1k course. Rob rode his legs off… or so we thought until you check out tomorrow's ITT result. Ed was in the mix of things, rocketing through the laps all while his bike kept making weird noises. Pete was there too, but decided it wasn't his day to shine… til tomorrow, that is.

BU/NE Individual Time Trial (March 24th)

Not much of a spectator sport since all riders were on the course one after another, but in the end, spectacular results by the Yale racers. In men's C: Brian riding without aerobars to score a top 8th (26:05.43); Roy in his "out-of-shape" way to score a strong 10th (26:08.90), and Dan C in 20th (27:32.45). In women's B: Catherine in 5th (29:50.58), Nicolette in 9th (31:18.83), and Tara in 11th (31:48.80)… all three contributing to Yale points in their first race of the season. In men's B: Ryan B in 5th (24:11.60) and McPhee in 16th (25:27.40)… great work by the two.

The women's A team shined with Marissa in 2nd (26:33.69) and Reilly in 5th (27:05.29)… tremendous times and efforts. The men's A team filled the A-results list with Rob riding in his so-cool space helmet for a well-deserved 1st place (22:14.34), Casey coming in 11th (23:37.89), Ed with a 13th (23:39.52), Pete in 16th (23:48.51), and Cam in 22nd (24:21.82).

There are 10 more races left, and 8 have been completed.
