Trexlertown Points Race (March 9)

A fast course with only sweeping turns, this day inevitably resulted in a lot of serious crashes. Thankfully, all Yalies were accounted for, and all survived to finish high in their races. Men's D began the day for Yale with our man Kenny (27th), who left us scratching our heads as he got lower and lower in his seat with each lap. We'll be sure to check his seat-post screw next race. Men's C followed in the day with the three new amigos: Brian (5th), Dan C (9th), and Roy (16th). They raced super up front and worked together to set things up for the finale. Look out for these boys in the next weeks. Men's B included our mountain-turned-roadie Ryan Bennett (5th) and first-comer Ryan Quadri (26th). Ryan B had a photogenic solo sprint, and Ryan Q finished well up in his first race for Yale. Watch for Yale's own special Ryan-combo surprise as our season starts to kick into a high gear.

The women's A-team of Marissa (3rd) and Reilly (9th) rode hard and finished in the top ten of their group. Not surprising to us, and we anticipate even higher results next race as they find even more form and continue hatching strategies. In men's A, our squad of Casey (2nd), Pete (8th), Rob (32nd), and Cam (35th) rode bravely and strongly. Casey went on a solo break to pick up points, and set himself up for the final sprint before a serious accident occurred that canceled the rest of the race.

Great job to all our Yale guys and gals who raced… check out pictures below of Yale in action… we so purty.

Pagoda Road Race (March 10th)

Morning weather observations as we looked out the hotel room: numbing cold hotel windows, a tree bent half over, clouds smoking it across the skies, and a Chevy flying through the air. Kidding on the last one. But needless to say, a very very cold and gusty day. Perfect weather for a day of hill hell.

Kenny (26th) started Yale's D-squad (singular) off on the grueling climb while most normal people are still asleep. Men's C also shot off at 8am, with Roy (11th) and Brian (12th) packing in strong finishes and Dan C (20th) climbing behind. The Men's B team of Ryan B (29th) represented strong until a wheel incident left our climber bloodied up. A quick glove change, some down-and-dirty first-aid treatment, and off Ryan went to catch and pass B-riders. That's our boy.

Women's A-team of Marissa (2nd) and Rei (13th) climbed superbly to finish high in the pack. We gave up on trying to figure out whether or not they are pure sprinters or pure climbers. Good at both, we won't complain. The Men's A-squad was again led by Casey (12th) who went on a madman break on the first couple laps to mix things up.  An in-the-closet climber? Mayhaps. And take a look at Pete (19th), Rob (26th), and Cam (31st). All hammering hard in the pack and climbing their legs off. Spectacular work and jobs well done.

One pat on the back for all the racers who stuck it out and worked their tails off on Pagoda (we're going to ration pats). We have more races to come, and the season is still young. Get ready for more!
