Ride Maps and Information
Ride maps are a good thing to have. We'll be hosting a number of rides this year. The weekend rides will generally be a bit longer and with a unique destination along the way. If you're interested in coming out and aren't necessarily into racing with us, feel free to come out and make some friends anyway. Email someone from the team to be put on the ride email list. All are welcome!
During the week: We typically ride every afternoon starting at 5.30pm from the women's table ('WT' in front of Sterling Memorial Library, see map below). Distances vary from 25 to 40 miles depending on who shows up, and are usually Orchard, Gaylord, or a Wallingford loop. Average speed at the end of the ride is between 16-18 mph. Expect a little climbing, a town line sprint or two, and some pacelining. But nobody gets dropped on these rides, and all are welcome. Learn bike handling skills, how to ride in a paceline, etc.
Saturdays: Long and moderately paced, this will be a perfect ride for getting in some of those precious base miles that are essential to a good spring racing season. We'll leave at 9:00 am sharp from the WT. Be sure to bring a few dollars for a snack in the event of a stop in Guilford. Typically we ride out on Rt. 17, down 77 or 79 through Guilford (stopping at Cilantro) and back along the shoreline into New Haven. 50 or 60 miles, depending. Heavy rain will cancel but we'll ride in light rain or sprinkle, and all through the winter.
Sundays: Meet at WT at 9:55 am to head out with the Devil's Gear shop ride from Lulu's cafe on Orange St. at 10am. This is a fun ride and covers anywhere from 50-100 miles depending on the group.
Feel free to join us on these rides. Email anyone on the team leadership for more info!
