Baccalaureate, Woolsey Hall, corner of Grove and College Streets

This one-hour service, which is also repeated twice on Sunday, features an address by President Levin, as well as remarks by the Dean of Yale College. Students and their guests are assigned to one of three services, depending on residential college affiliation.

Baccalaureate service for seniors and guests from Timothy Dwight, Morse, Pierson, and Saybrook Colleges, Woolsey Hall, corner of Grove and College Streets

Class Day exercises, Old Campus. Includes an address by a notable speaker, the awarding of undergraduate prizes, and a celebration of Yale College traditions. Seniors assemble on Cross Campus at 1:15 pm wearing academic robes and headgear of choice. This year's Class Day speaker is Newark mayor Cory Booker, LAW '97.

All degree candidates, December as well as May, must fill out a Commencement response form by May 1. This form is required whether or not one is planning to attend the GSAS Commencement Diploma ceremony. The form is available only online, and the deadline for submission is May 1. Graduate School Convocation, Hall of Graduate Studies (HGS) courtyard tent, 320 York Street.

This ceremony, presided over by Dean Tom Pollard, features the awarding of student prizes and graduate faculty mentor awards. The Convocation speaker will be a distinguished Yale faculty member and/or a Graduate School alumnus or alumna. All degree candidates and their guests are encouraged to attend. No tickets are needed, and academic regalia is not required.

Presentation of diplomas in Woolsey Hall, corner of Prospect and College Streets.

The GSAS diploma ceremony will be videotaped and streamed on the Commencement website homepage. Friends and family members who cannot attend the diploma ceremony are encouraged to view the ceremony online.
 
Diplomas for the degrees of Doctor of Philosophy, Master of Philosophy, Master of Arts,* Master of Science, and Master of Engineering are awarded by the Dean and faculty representatives from each department or program.
 
All degree candidates must fill out Commencement attendance forms indicating whether or not they will attend the diploma ceremony. The attendance form is available only online and may be accessed here. The deadline for submission of attendance forms is May 1. Degree candidates who do not respond by this date may not be able to be included in the diploma ceremony, or may not be able to sit with their departments.
 
Degree candidates will sit in the orchestra section by department or degree program and will be called to the stage individually to receive a diploma from the Dean. Guests may find seats on the sides and in the balconies. No tickets are required either for degree candidates or guests. The handicapped-accessible entrance to Woolsey Hall is via Beinecke Plaza.
 
*Students receiving master's degrees from the Yale MacMillan Center for International & Area Studies and the Economic Growth Center receive their diplomas in a ceremony held at Luce Hall, 34 Hillhouse Avenue. Included are master's candidates in African Studies, East Asian Studies, International & Development Economics, International Relations, and European and Russian Studies. A complimentary luncheon and reception for YCIAS graduates and guests immediately follows in Luce Hall.
 
Professional photographs will be taken of each student receiving a diploma, at both the Woolsey Hall and Luce Hall diploma ceremonies. Commencement Photos, a commercial service, will mail degree candidates information about purchasing their photos. Candidates may also contact Commencement Photos directly to inquire.

The diploma ceremony for the School of Architecture will be

held in the Margaret and Angus Wurtele Sculpture Garden at the Yale University Art Gallery, 1111 Chapel Street, immediately following the Old Campus ceremony. Lunch in the Margaret and Angus Wurtele Scuplture Garden follows the diploma ceremony. No tickets are required.

In case of rain, the diploma ceremony will be held in the Robert L. McNeil Lecture Hall of the Yale University Art Gallery, 1111 Chapel Street, and lunch will be served in the gallery of Paul Rudolph Hall, 180 York Street.

Commencement Worship, Sterling Divinity Quadrangle. Academic regalia for faculty and graduates. Rain location: Marquand Chapel. Preaching will be Emilie Townes.

At 3:30 pm on Monday, a convocation for bachelor's degree recipients and their guests will be held in Room 114 of Sheffield-Sterling-Strathcona Hall, 1 Prospect Street. The convocation will include the presentation of prizes and awards by Dean T. Kyle Vanderlick.

Law School Commencement exercises, William K. Lanman Center, Payne Whitney Gymnasium. No tickets are required, and there is no limit on the number of guests. Invitations will be available in the registrar's office in April. In recent years the Law School ceremony has ended by 2:30 pm. 

University Commencement exercises, old Campus. Tickets are not required.

The diploma ceremony will be held in Caulkins Courtyard, 135 Prospect Street. No tickets are required.

Professional photographs will be taken of each student receiving a diploma. Commencement Photos, a commercial service, will send degree candidates information about purchasing their photos. Candidates may also contact  Commencement Photos directly to inquire.

An optional box lunch will be available following the ceremony. Reservations will be accepted beginning in late April; guests should make arrangements through their graduating friend or relative.

In case of severe weather, the diploma ceremony will be moved to Woolsey Hall (corner of Grove & College Streets) and will begin at approximately 3:00 pm.

University Commencement exercises, Old Campus.

Guests who do not wish to attend the University ceremony on Old Campus may view the ceremony via simulcast in the Anylan Center (TAC) auditorium, 300 Cedar Street, starting at 10:00 am.

The School of Medicine diploma ceremony will begin at 12:30 pm at Amistad Park, located at the corner of Cedar Street and Washington Street.

In the event of extremely severe weather, the diploma ceremony will move to Mary S. Harkness Auditorium, but with very limited access (3 tickets per graduate, including graduate). Mary S. Harkness Auditorium is located in the Sterling Hall of Medicine, 333 Cedar Street. All other guests are invited to watch the ceremony via simulcast in the Anylan Center (TAC) auditorium, 300 Cedar Street; the Brady Auditorium, 310 Cedar Street; or the Fitkin Amphitheater, 330 Cedar Street.

Guests are advised to park either in the Temple Street Garage, 40 Temple Street, or the Air Rights Garage, 40 York Street. Handicapped parking will be available in the Amistad Garage with handivan service to Old Campus.

Following the ceremony, at approximately 1:45 pm, there will be a reception in Edward S. Harkness Hall for the graduates, their family and friends.

Students and their guests will not be required to have tickets for any of the events (except in the event of extreme weather), but students are required to provide the Office of Student Affairs with the number of guests expected. Students are allowed parties of eight (including student). If more guests are expected, please notify Jill Aulenti in the Office of Student Affairs, 203 785-5962.

On Monday, May 20, Commencement exercises for the School of Music will take place in Sprague Hall immediately following the University Commencement ceremony on Old Campus. Tickets are not required.

Doctoral students and their guests are invited to join Dean Margaret Grey and doctoral faculty for breakfast and the School's traditional hooding ceremony prior to Commencement events. Details, including breakfast location, will be announced at a later date.

The Yale School of Nursing diploma ceremony will be held at the Shubert Theater, 247 College Street. A reception for graduates, their families, and guests will be held at the Omni New Haven Hotel, 155 Temple Street, immediately following the diploma ceremony. Tickets are required for both the diploma ceremony and reception.

YSPH Graduation Ceremony will be held at Battell Chapel, located on the corner of Elm and College Streets. The ceremony is open to all, and there is no limit on the number of guests. Tickets are not required.
