The following enhancements to the Coeus Lite eSubmission system will go into effect by the close of the business day on Thursday, September 27:

  • The sign-in procedure for the system will no longer require a Coeus-specific username and password. Rather, you need only use your normal NetID and password to access the system. Please note that should you need to change your password going forward, you can follow the instructions provided by Yale ITS here.

  • Users will now be able to Withdraw FYI submissions regardless of their chronological position in the Protocol’s History. Previously, only the most recent submission was able to be Withdrawn.

  • We are also working on automated tracking methods to eliminate notifications to investigators that have been generated in error, and problems related to the proper generation of Approval Letters. As soon as fixes are obtained for these issues, we will be sure to update you.

NOTICE: Effective immediately, due to recent technical difficulties, no new users will be granted access to the Coeus system. This is a temporary restriction. Notice will be posted on this website when access requests will again be accepted. Current users will retain access privileges throughout this time. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the HIC office at (203) 785-4688 or at

Coeus eIRB enables online entry and submission of human research protocols to the Yale Institutional Review Boards (IRBs) and other oversight authorities charged with the protection of Yale’s research volunteers.

The electronic routing feature provides sequential review and approval of the research, prior to the research being received by the IRB for formal review, as required by Yale policy.

Oversight committees utilizing the electronic protocol submission system include the Pediatric Protocol Review Committee (PPRC), the Magnetic Resonance Review Committee (MRRC), the PET Center, the Yale Cancer Center’s Protocol Review Committee (PRC) and Yale School of Medicine Department Chairs and their designees.

Investigators save time and resources in delivering protocols, collecting signatures and requisite approvals for research protocols.
