Yukai studied at Princeton, Oxford, and the University of Pennsylvania before coming to Yale. He is interested in poetry and has recently finished a master’s dissertation on nostalgia as a structuring principle in reading the Iliad and the Aeneid. Future work will likely involve further exploration of ancient texts and the theoretical barriers and opportunities they present.
In lieu of hobbies, Yukai retains interests in comparative philology, modernism in English, classical Chinese lyric, and bad viola-playing.
