Professor Pollitt has published six books, including Art and Experience in Classical Greece, The Ancient View of Greek Art, and Art in the Hellenistic Age. He came to Yale in 1962, and was made a full professor in 1973. Subsequently he was appointed as the John M. Schiff Professor of Classical Archaeology and History of Art in 1990, and was elected as Sterling Professor in 1995.
