Chris Kraus received her BA from Princeton and PhD from Harvard. She has taught at New York University, University College London, and Oxford University before coming to Yale in the summer of 2004. She has research interests in ancient narrative (especially historiography and tragedy), Latin prose style, and the theory and practice of commentaries. Major publications: Livy Ab urbe condita VI (Cambridge 1994); (with A.J. Woodman), Latin historians (Oxford 1997); (ed.) The limits of historiography: Genre and narrative in ancient historical texts (Leiden 1999); (ed., with R.K. Gibson), The classical commentary: Histories, practices, theory (Leiden 2002). She will be giving the Martin Lectures at Oberlin College in the Spring of 2009.
