Registration and Fees

All participants registering for the meeting are required to pay the appropriate fees. There are two types of fees: the conference fee and the RC28 membership fee (for non-members). All fees will be due in cash at the site of the meeting (on Monday, August 3 from 4pm to 8pm or Tuesday, August 4 from 9am to 11am).

The registration fee covers conference material, coffee breaks, light lunches, the conference dinner and one excursion.

For RC28 members:
The conference fee for RC28 members has been set at 175 USD. Graduate students (with proof of student registration) may register for the reduced rate of 100 USD. Participants who wish to bring a guest to the conference dinner will be asked to pay 70 USD per guest. Please fill out the online registration form.

For Non-RC28 members:
The fee for non-RC28 members is 275 USD (this includes the requisite RC28 membership fee of 100 USD). Non-members from low-income, or soft currency countries, as well as student non-members, may pay a reduced fee of 120 USD (this includes a four-year RC28 membership). Participants who wish to bring a guest to the conference dinner will be asked to pay 70 USD per guest. Please fill out the online registration form.

We will accept the following forms of payment, due on site, on August 3 and 4:

  • Cash in US dollars
  • Personal check from a US bank
  • Bank draft (cashier's check) from a US bank
  • Traveler's checks in US dollars from a US bank

Checks and drafts should be made out to Yale University.

Unfortunately, we cannot accept credit cards at the meeting registration, non-US currency, or regular checks from non-US banks.

Travel Awards:
RC28 offers travel awards up to 500 USD to assist students and members in special need to present their work at the Conference. Travel awards are given in recognition of good scholarship in the field of Stratification. In order to be eligible for a travel award, the applicant's abstract must be accepted by the conference organizers. As a rule, travel awards are given only once in a four-year period to the same person.

To apply, you need to send your abstract, an itemized budget, and two letters of recommendation to the main organizer of the 2009 Summer Meeting (Richard Breen, c/o Chelsea Rhodes) and to the Secretary/Treasurer of RC28 (Meir Yaish). The deadline for applying for travel awards for the 2009 Summer meeting of RC28 is April 30, 2009. Decisions about travel awards will be made by May 15, 2009.
