About Us

The Parenting Center & Child Conduct Clinic is designed for parents with a wide range of concerns that emerge in child-rearing. Parents who are involved in our program learn effective ways to develop positive behaviors in their children. Many parents come to our program with questions and concerns about how to handle the daily challenges that parenting can present. The center provides concrete parenting skills that focus on:

  • Improving cooperation at home
  • Developing social and academic behaviors
  • Accepting disappointments calmly
  • Handling struggles of everyday life (e.g., getting dressed, completing homework, and cleaning their room)
  • Making family time more enjoyable

Our program is also recommended when a child exhibits difficulties such as having more severe problems at home or at school. We teach concrete skills that help to:

  • Reduce such behaviors as fighting or aggression at home or school, and severe or frequent tantrums
  • Develop adaptive behaviors
  • Reduce disruptive behavior at school
  • Improve parent discipline practices

Our program is designed to help parents become more effective in disciplining and improving their children’s behaviors. The child learns to deal with interpersonal situations in positive, more adaptive ways at home, school, and with friends. This usually consists of decreasing specific problem behaviors including aggressive or uncooperative behavior. Programs are individualized to each family’s interests and goals.

While strengthening your child’s level of cooperation, s/he will become more responsible and learn to make positive choices. Developing these new skills will increase your child’s confidence and improve relationships at home and school.

Appointments are scheduled at a mutually convenient time once a week. The length of the program varies depending upon the needs and goals of each family. The program fee is based on a sliding scale.
