Welcome to the online home for America on Board, the Yale College Chess Club's chess-in-schools project. Here you can find more information about what schools have America on Board chess clubs, how to get America on Board at your school, and info about our upcoming events, including Communiversity Day. Our America on Board director for the Spring 2009 semester is Tobi Kune, who can be reached at his email address: firstname.lastname@yale.edu). We currently go to one school. Info about it can be seen below.
School name: Microsociety Magnet School All America on Board scholastic programs, from chess clubs in schools to our Communiversity Day booths are free and run by Yale undergraduates on a volunteer basis as part of Dwight Hall and its Education Network (EdNet). We have currently discontinued our semesterly PAL tournaments co-sponsored by the Police Athletic League but if you are interested in learning more about those feel free to contact us. If you're a Yalie interested in teaching chess in a New Haven school, please contact Tobi, or drop us a line through our contact page. Please don't feel like you need to be a chess expert to tutor with us; it's most important that you care about young people and enjoy mentoring them. If you're a parent, teacher, administrator or student in New Haven interested in bringing America on Board to your school, we'd like to hear from you. Depending on how many volunteers we have, we start new clubs near the beginning of semesters, but get in touch with us now! We can also direct you to other chess resources in the New Haven area if we are unable to help you. |
