The Windows on the South Wall

The windows on the south wall which once occupied the clerestory position high on the wall were moved to accommodate the 1893 expansion.

The first window on the south wall, made by Collier and Company of London bears a pastoral image and a portrait of King David in the top portion. The four scenes in each corner represent, Caritas (Love) and Fortitudo (Courage) on the top row, and Patientia (Patience) and Veritas (Truth) on the lower row. The inscription between the two bottom scenes is taken from Isaiah 53:4 "Surely he hath born our griefs and carried our sorrows." This window is a memorial to Loring William Andrews.
