Frequently Answered Questions:
How much does it cost?
You are responsible for your own flight to and from New Orleans and a $100 contribution to the common cost.
What do we do?
We will be doing some hands-on rebuilding work during the day, including both residential construction and environmental projects. At night, we go on religous site visits, a tour of the French Quarter, go to a jazz club, rock out at Rock And Bowl, share our stories of faith and service, learn about the rebuilding of New Orleans from local experts, enjoy the local cuisine, and generally enjoy everything New Orleans has to offer.
Where to we stay?
With your 30 new best friends at the charming Marquette House. It's nothing fancy, but it's only $17 a night. It'll be full of other groups on spring break trips, so it's guaranteed to be a fun atmosphere!

Who goes on this trip? Do I have to be super religious?
For the past two years this trip has been made up of the most diverse group of people at Yale, ever (we think). Participants are people for whom faith has played some role in their life, whether as part of a formal religious community, an individual path of seeking and wondering, and everything in between. The best part about this trip is that all paths are welcome and celebrated. We don't debate our beliefs - we share them with the hopes of understanding each other from a different persepctive than the one we came with.
Everyone will be given the opportunity to tell their story. Everyone will be given the time to listen.

Will there be kosher/halal/vegetarian/delicious food? /I have to pray five times a day. /I observe the Sabbath./ I must/I can't/I might feel uncomfortable/I'd really like to/What about...?
We will make certain that everyone's unique personal and religious restrictions and needs are taken care of with utmost respect. Balancing individual needs with that of the group's is a task that the professional staff of the Chaplain's Office will be primarily focused on for the whole week.
Do we go to Bourbon Street EVERY night?
Er, no. We get up on the early side of morning so we can be bright-eyed and bushy-tailed at the work site by 9am. If you're looking to party hardy, head to Cancun instead. This trip is focused on creating a safe, respectful learning environment based on a common group experience, and stumbling into your bunkroom at 2am doesn't really fit into that. That said, we're all adults capable of making good decisions.
You will definitely need you rest:

Okay, maybe just one night ;-)
