Religious Pluralism 101
This training is designed for beginner groups or audiences that are more general and focuses on the basic idea of religious pluralism, its current threats, and the urgent need for its realization today. Lasting 1-1.5 hours, this training (or presentation) encourages trainees to become “interfaith advocates” who reframe conversations about religion using the religious pluralism lens.
The Six Hallmarks of an Interfaith Bridge-Builder
This training introduces the idea of “Interfaith Bridge-Builders,” leaders who have committed themselves to working for religious pluralism. This 90 minute workshops assumes a basic understanding of religious pluralism and covers and overview of the six hallmarks of an effective Bridge-builder, including some of techniques for embodying these hallmarks and creating effective action.
What’s Your Story? Storytelling as a Tool of Interfaith Dialogue
Storytelling is a central component of IFYC’s methodology and of effective efforts to build relationships and active pluralism within communities. This 2 hour workshop explores the importance of stories to human communication in general and religious pluralism in particular. The workshop focuses on helping participants to craft their own stories of how they became committed to religious pluralism, allowing for ample time to write and reflect. This training also engages participants in the question of how to listen to others’ stories, the relationship between stories and identity-formation, and suggests positive ways of sharing stories with others.
Dialogue Facilitation Training: Skills for a Shared Values Dialogue
This training is designed for leaders who want to build their skills in dialogue facilitation and gain a deeper understanding of the role of dialogue in religious pluralism. This 2 hour training will involve a shared values dialogue experience and role playing to help practice responding to both constructive and tough comments. The training will also provide participants with sample interfaith dialogue outlines and facilitator’s tips and resources.
