Guidelines for Chaplain’s Office
Service Grants
The University’s global student body brings together a broad spectrum of religious and spiritual traditions. The Chaplain’s Office seeks to support and encourage the sacred journey of every student at Yale. These grants are for everyone who considers service to others an essential part of that journey. By supporting cooperative altruism rooted in the sacred, we hope to promote peace, justice and unity in the world and provide students with the opportunity for introspection and dialogue.
Who is eligible?
Undergraduate, graduate, and professional school students are all encouraged to apply. Projects that incorporate persons from multiple traditions are especially welcome.
What can I do with this money?
These grants are intended for projects that equally incorporates praxis and discernment. In our context, praxis is compassionate action that is creative, transformative, other-seeking, dialogic, and respectful. Discernment includes individual and group reflection and discussion about how the sacred affects our lives.
When are applications due and when will decisions be made?
Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis and can be submitted at any time. Turnaround on applications will be no less than two weeks and no more than one month.
