Here we have natural forest cover that is being removed to provide agricultural fields, often for olive and fruit trees and/or wheat, with substantial seasonal intercropping in the wetter zones. Olives, fruit trees, lentils and vines are commonly found growing together. Many hillsides have been terraced to create level fields.
