Description:

I will utilize remote sensing as part of my MESC Thesis, "Sediment fingerprinting in the Mara River: Uncovering relationships between wildlife, tourism and non-point source pollution."

Remote sensing will assist me in identifying and quantifying several important features that influence the sediment yield: depositional zones, hippo and other wildlife pathways near the river, tourism settlements and other high erosion sites within the riparian zone.  I will then use this information to sample those specific areas during my summer field research in Kenya.
