Opportunities and Constraints in an Urban System The Helm and Spring Street Landfills as a Case Study for Ecosystem Management

Vanessa Johnson

This study results from a team investigation of the West River watershed for Dr. Bill Burch's Ecosystem Measurement Course. The report is an investigation of various ecosystem management theoretical and conceptual frameworks of analysis. These methods were used to facilitate the ultimate goal of ecosystem management: the intertwining of social and biophysical components that define the human ecosystem.

Information is provided regarding: site descriptions, methodologies, and landfill history. Infomation gathered was used to develop a characterization of the patterns and process of human ecosystems in the Lower West River Watershed.
